Fall Skills
Our program is joining with the boys program to run joint skill sessions this Fall. They will be Sunday evenings (6:00-7:30) at Tosa East and will be run by Girls Head Coach Mary Merg and Boys Varsity Assistant Coach Ben Spector. These sessions are for 6th-8th graders and will be free.
Winter League
All 3rd-8th grade teams play in a league. The leagues start in early November and run 16 games through February. League games are played on weekends, mostly Saturday. Most games will be played through the 1on1 Winter League (at Pius for 5th-8th and St. Dominic’s for 3rd and 4th) with a couple teams playing in the Youth Girls Basketball Select League. There are two games played each weekend when the league is scheduled.
Winter Practices
Practices for Winter session begin in October and run until the final league or tournament game is played. Practices in October will be once/week because of low gym availability and then twice/week until the end of the season (usually mid-February but into March for some teams). Teams will practice at one of the East grade schools, Longfellow, and Tosa East.
Winter Tournaments
All teams will compete in 3-5 weekend (Saturday or Sunday) tournaments in the Winter session. Older grades may compete in more tournaments. Our first Winter Tournaments will mostly begin in December and finish in mid-February through early March depending on the team. All of the tournaments are close enough to drive to and home from on the same day. Some teams will schedule an "away" tournament for the older grades in places like Appleton or Wisconsin Dells. Parents and players often agree to stay over for these tournaments. We have found these "away" tournaments to be great bonding opportunities for players and parents.
Winter Skills
Skill sessions with our professional coach, Nate Wickstrom, will run for 6th-8th grade players on Saturday mornings throughout the Winter season.
Summer League
Once school ends, the players move up a grade, so 3rd graders become 4th, and 4th become 5th, etc. As such, there is no 3rd grade team in Summer. All 4th-8th grade teams will compete in a summer league through the 1on1 Summer League at Pius and St. Dominic’s. The summer season consists of 12 league games and runs from June to end of July. We do not practice during the summer, but some coaches may choose to do some voluntary work with teams or grade levels.
Summer Skills
Summer skill sessions are MTWTh starting in mid-late June and continuing into early-mid August. The sessions are run by Coach Merg and Coach Nate.
